Ysanet Batista is a queer afro-Dominican vegan chef, organizer, educator, and farmer in training. She is the co-owner of Woke Foods LLC, a cooperative that focuses on the healing traditions of Dominican foods through catering, meal planning and cooking classes. She is also a student at Farm School NYC earning a certificate in Urban Agriculture. Ysanet works in the Bronx and Washington Heights as a nutrition and food justice educator for bilingual middle school students. She is inspired by the resiliency of Black and Brown people and is committed to using food as a tool for liberation for her people in NYC and the Dominican Republic.
