Food Justice, Inside and Out: Navigating Power Dynamics in Collaborative Partnerships
Room; TH 136
Food justice organizing often leads to partnerships between community-based organizations and outside professionals of various sorts, including collaborative researchers and capacity builders. These partnerships bring with them a set of challenges, particularly in terms of navigating power dynamics related to race/ethnicity, economic class, access to resources, and other institutional demands. Bringing several food justice partners together in conversation, this workshop will offer a set of best practices and principles for engagement that can help community practitioners and outside collaborator forge more just, ethical and effective alliances.
